Monthly Artist

Every month we feature a different artist, this month is photographer LagunaSoCal.

Background Overview:

I am a self-taught photographer, who is grateful for the help and guidance I have received from others in the field. My love for photography happened organically.  I have always been an enthusiastic camera bug, but my hobby turned serious about five years ago while photographing my daughter, Alexandra, skimboarding at the beach.  Her dedication to the sport gave me exposure to the best skimboarders in the world, and I found it extremely challenging to capture the action.  A few years ago I upgraded to a professional camera and lenses.  Now I am fully committed to my photography passion.

What kind of camera do you normally shoot with?

I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III.  I have a myriad of lenses, but generally use 70-200 F/2.8 zoom.

What is your favorite subject to shoot?

Board sports and sunsets.

What I like to shoot depends on the day.  If the waves are firing,  I am up before sunrise to capture skimboarders, surfers, bodyboarders, and Mother Nature doing her thing in favorable lighting, before the sun gets too intense.   Sunsets are my absolute favorite.  Give me a killer sunset over the ocean, and I am in a state of bliss.  Nothing better than chasing sunsets as the day comes to a close. Background Overview:
